DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara and Stenden University Qatar (SU-Q) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on cultural activities and events and provide SU-Q students with training opportunities.
The MoU was signed by Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti and SU-Q Executive Dean Dr Ivan Ninov.
“Culture has always been strongly linked to the educational sector. The interaction and harmony between the two never cease to exist as both have a basic and vital role in the process of community progress. Also, culture and education function as a powerful driving force behind transforming societies into more advanced and creative ones,” said Dr Al Sulaiti. He stressed the contributions of culture and education “in shaping awareness and broadening individual thinking, and that have always helped in the advancement of human civilisation”. He said Katara will provide full support for this cooperation and spare no efforts to achieve success. “We hope that our efforts achieve the success we’re seeking in a bid to help bring about a new generation of creative and innovative youth who are equipped with the modern knowledge and the proper scientific tools to cope with and compete in a rapidly changing world today,” said Dr Al Sulaiti. Dr Ninov said: “We are very privileged and excited to ink this pact with Katara that is inspired by our common objectives of promoting cultural awareness and contributing to the development of the tourism industry in the state of Qatar.”
SU-Q is the only university in the country which offers bachelor’s programmes in tourism management and international hospitality management.
