Brazilian exports to Qatar exceeded $316m in ’12

DOHA: Brazilian exports to Qatar exceeded $316m in 2012. Food and beverage products remain the top Brazilian exports to Qatar with a total value of more than $ 115m, an increase by 5.7 percent from over $109m in 2011. 

Brazilian machinery and equipment exports to Qatar, including auto parts, registered the biggest growth rate at 47.5 percent from over $8m in 2011 to nearly $12m in 2012, while the value of exported housing and construction materials reached more than $ 1.7m. Other Brazilians products accounted for more than $187m of the total exports to Qatar.

A delegation that includes the top 30 Brazilian companies will be taking part in the 5th Brazilian Trade Mission to the Middle East, which will run from February 18 to 21, 2013, and hosted by major cities in the GCC. Leading Qatari business enterprises are among the key participants of the Trade Mission, as trade activities between the two countries continue to expand with Brazilian exports to Qatar reaching a value of over $316.7m in 2012, according to figures from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

Kicking off with an exclusive business meeting in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on February 18, the Trade Mission will be attended by companies from key sectors including food & beverage, housing and construction, machinery & equipment and auto parts, and will include a hosted buyer’s programme for interested importers and trading companies from the Middle East. 

Organised by Apex-Brasil and the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade under the patronage of the Brazilian Ambassador to the UAE, the Trade Mission will also host a series of business meetings in Dubai on February 20, which is open for UAE companies, and on the 21st for regional hosted buyers at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel – Dubai.

Apex-Brasil is also organising seminars on “Venture Capital & Private Equity” at the Jumeirah Tower Hotels in Dubai and at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi. 

The seminars are supported by the Brazilian Ministries of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and of External Relations, National Confederation of Industry and Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

The 5th Brazilian Trade Mission to the Middle East expects buyers from Qatar, KSA, UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan and Iraq among others. Participants will benefit from direct buying opportunities from qualified sellers, while the event will also facilitate various one-to-one meetings that create opportunities to build partnerships and distribution agreements with qualified sellers as well as extending personal network among industry peers.
