Interviews will be held for new cabin crew in Melbourne and Sydney over the next two weeks.

DOHA: Qatar Airways is on a staff recruitment drive in Australia. Qatar’s national carrier’s drive is aimed at boosting its staff ahead of the planned launch of its service to Australia.

The new sector will soon be added to the airline’s long list of destinations worldwide. The airline had first announced its plan to fly to Australia in March 2004.

The airline is expected to receive delivery of a number of new hi-tech aircraft this year. The management is considering connecting Australia and other destinations to its fast-expanding network.

The airline has already established an office in Melbourne and, according to an advertisement posted on its website, is in the process of recruiting cabin crew for the Australian and other sectors.

Interviews are scheduled to be held at Marriott Hotel in Melbourne on January 11 and at Hilton Sydney on January 17.

Asked about the cabin crew recruitment plans in Australia, an airline source said: “We are always looking to recruit staff.” There are more than 12,000 employees working for the airline at its 80 destinations around the world, he added.
