Doha: The Qatar Scientific Club has designed a robot (pictured) to guide traffic at road diversions. The new innovation warns cars to stop, take care or reduce speed at diversions instead of a worker designated by the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” to do this by raising a red piece of cloth.

The mobile robot, which works 24 hours using solar energy, has been well tested at the Scientific Club demonstrating a high capability of performance, and is ready to be applied in all areas where roadworks are going on.

The inventor of the new device, Rashid Al Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary of the Scientific Club, said that the club is ready to put to use the robot for “Ashghal” and the local firms engaged in roads maintenance works.
