DOHA: The German Ambassador to Qatar praised the efforts of the Qatari government to improve the education system in the country and the living conditions of foreigners here.
Ambassador Dr Dirk Baumgartner said he also appreciated the government’s decision to create a Constitutional Court here to improve the legal system.
“Germany is ready to be a partner in this process... I am very much impressed of all that is done here,” said Baumgartner during the launch of the German-Qatari Cultural Weeks yesterday at the Doha Sheraton Hotel.
The reception at the hotel was also a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 60th anniversary of the Basic Law and a belated celebration of the Day of German Unity 2009.
The cultural events will commence with a Jazz Concert (with German and Arab musicians performing) at the Amphitheatre at Al Rumailah Park on November 4.
The German-Qatari Cultural Weeks will include jazz concerts, classical music concerts, an architecture exhibition, a photographic exhibition, art workshops and exhibitions, and a German Film Week.
The German-Qatari Cultural Weeks will run until December 12.
