DOHA: Vodafone Qatar yesterday announced it would offer individuals interested in helping others or assisting in charities for a whole year a chance to do just that.

The programme “A World of Difference” offers financial support to four people who are enthusiastic in doing charity works and are interested in working for a whole year with a local charity or local organisation, or wants to do any activity related to helping others.

The programme was launched for the first time in New Zealand in 2003 and has now become a Vodafone programme worldwide. The programme is for people who are willing to help the local community through certain projects – and Vodafone assists them in the implementation of their projects.

Vodafone has already assisted a total of 100 projects worldwide in 30 countries and has brought positive impact to thousands of people worldwide.

“Vodafone is keen to launch this programme in Qatar… It is one of the initiatives that can make a difference to many people here. Many of us dream of making changes if they have the time to do that… So the programme was designed to make dreams come true for people interested in doing this,” said Jan Mottram, HR director of Vodafone Qatar.

The programme is posted on the Vodafone Qatar website, which includes volunteer activities carried out by the Qatar Red Crescent.

People who are interested to join the programme should be 18 years old and above and can speak fluent Arabic and English. For other details, visit www.vodafone.com.qa/foundation. Deadline for application is on December 31 this year.
